Nevis Airport Information
The Nevis Airport - there is just one on the island - is located on the northern end of Nevis near the town of Newcastle. For this reason, the Nevis Airport (NEV) is sometimes called Newcastle airport. Located eight miles from the capital city of Charlestown, Nevis Airport accepts mainly island-hopper flights and intra-island airlines that fly in via other Caribbean destinations. There are no direct flights to Nevis airport from either North America or Europe. Most visitors to the island connect through San Juan, Antigua, or St. Kitts, arriving at the Nevis Airport aboard local carriers like Winair, LIAT, American Eagle, and Carib Aviation. Most international airlines can arrange such connector flights. An air shuttle between St. Kitts and Nevis airport is also available through Nevis Express, which makes the seven-minute trip seven times per day.
As an alternative to arriving at the Nevis airport, some travelers take the ferry from St. Kitts. Three companies run daily service between the two islands, a journey which takes an average of 45 minutes and costs US$8-$15.
